Abstract

School education in the Arctic zone of Russia represents a unique phenomenon shaped by extreme climatic conditions and cultural traditions. The article analyses the current state and prospects for the development of school education in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The main findings include identifying key issues such as insufficient material and technical support, a shortage of teachers, and poor internet connectivity. The article proposes granting special legal status to educational institutions in the Arctic to improve the education system, taking into account the ethnocultural characteristics of the region. It discusses ways to modernise infrastructure, prepare teaching staff, and incorporate ethnocultural components into the educational process. These measures are aimed at increasing the accessibility and quality of education, which, in turn, will contribute to the socio-economic development of the region and the country as a whole. The article also examines the implementation of distance learning and the use of digital technologies, which are particularly important given the remoteness and inaccessibility of Arctic territories. Additional attention is given to the preservation and development of the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples living in the Arctic. Finally, possible mechanisms of state support and funding for educational initiatives are considered, which could help create a sustainable and effective educational system capable of adapting to the challenges and conditions of the Arctic region.
